  • Anyone tried the E1550-firmware update on the K3765-HV? I think the firmware update for the E1550 contains drivers also for the newer Huawei modems, which are not supported by the drivers included in the updates for the E160, E169 etc.

So has anyone tried to flash his K3765-HV with the following update?

  • firmware or dashboard for "k3765perm2309201"??? Hi friends,
first of all, thank you very much for your very good site and work done regarding the K3765 updates.
I've done your first debranding (permanent) procedure correctly but I noticed that point n.2 (# reflash your K3765-HV with the following firmware: k3765perm23092010.rar) it's not a firmware update but it's the dashboard update. Thanking you and this update I finally solved the switching problem with the previous version! Thank you all very much again! :) Regards,CS

  • A rather simple way Actually, with the alternative Firmware from over here:

    http://code.google.com/p/wl500g/

...which is still regularly updated, most UMTS / 3G USB devices on the market work perfectly out of the box with the WL500-G and other compatible ASUS devices!

    Personally tested: Huawei E220, Huawei E270, Option GE0201 ExpressCard (using a ExpressCard USB adaptor from D-Link), Vodafone/Huawei K3765-HV, Vodafone/ZTE K3565-Z...

The fact that the above firmware is still actively maintained with focus on UMTS / 3G modem support makes the WL500-G a good UMTS router choice.

It should be noted, though, that some of the more recent UMTS dongles may exceed the power specifications of the router's USB ports (personal experience), thats why using an external USB hub with active power supply is recommended in case you encounter any strange device behaviour (the dual-power USB adaptor which is often shipped with the sticks did not help in my case).
