| Wireless internet access through 2G/3G-networks has recently become quite affordable in many countries and so have modems. While there is already a great source to data tariffs, the Prepaid Wireless Internet Access Wiki, there was no source to hard- and software for wireless internet access through 3G networks. So this wiki shall provide an overview of wireless data devices, provide instructions and reveal their secrets. Feel free to contribute! Please note, that this wiki also allows discussions like on a forum. At the bottom of each page you will find a form to start a new thread or join existing ones. Discussions will be attached to the page, where they were started, so please first go to an appropriate page and start your discussion there. Now start browsing the sections on the left or start a site search! If you expand the menu by dragging down it's lower border, you will get a better overview. | |

Hi, I have an old Virgin dongle, E160E, and need the coverage of Telstra out in the bush. I installed the Telstra sim, downloaded and installed the unlocker successfully, then updated the firmware too. I have installed Mobile Partners onto the laptop, and uninstalled Virgin completely. Now when I plug the dongle in, it asks me if I want to install Virgin again, and I cannot connect with Mobile Partners at all. It shows no bars of service and says "Default configuration does not exist" Do I need to Debrand the dongle perhaps? If so, where can I download what I need to do that? Thanks everyone!

Hi all,
Newbie here and hope you guys wil help me out. I have searched for days, bt didnt find satisfying answr. Herez da prob guys, Recently I bought a huawei umg-1831 usb modem which was locked to T-Mobile and now unlocked. Its runing on t-mobile web connect manager 2.05(current for this model in t mobile) and t mobile firmware. Then I thought bout flashing it with latest huawei mobile partner ver.21(which i found to be new and it is said that voice enabled) and with t-mobile firmware or firmware from dc-files. Then i came to doubt that, can i flash just huawei mobile partner while using t-mobile firmware or if i shuld flash firmware with generic huawei firmware too? And would flashing either of these updates wil again locked down my modem? (I mean that flashing huawei firmware, mobile partner or even updating t mobile firmware) Thanks all.
